Valerian is a well-known plant within phytotherapy. Extracts of this plant (obtained by extraction with water or 70% ethanol in water) can be effective for insomnia.
Valerian provides relief from mild nervous tension and sleep disorders. Thanks to the concentrated valerenic acid it improves the quality of natural sleep.
